Toros Fall After Regis Scores Four in Second Half

DENVER – Elisa Martin made seven saves in her first start in a Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer uniform, but a four-goal second half allowed Regis to claim a 4-0 win over the Toros Friday evening.

Ida Eriksson had two of the Toros six shots throughout the match. CSUDH fired four shots in the first half.

The first half saw a lot of back-and-forth with possession, with both keepers making two saves.

CSUDH's closest chance to get on the board in the opening period was in the 26th minute. Theresa Butcher made a perfect pass to Ida Eriksson up the middle and as she got closer to the goal, her shot went directly to Ranger keeper Kat Crump.

Regis had the final opportunity in the half to score. With about two minutes remaining, a Ranger charged to the goal but was broken up by Elise Sanborn, who slid before the shot could be made. Elisa Martin would pick up the loose ball.

It was 3:18 into the second half when the Rangers (3-0-0) Catherine Anger beat Martin for the match's first goal. Regis would score the insurance goal off a corner kick in the 61st minute before adding two more in the 78th and 88th.

The Toros will enjoy Saturday away from competition in Denver before they visit Metro State for the road trip finale Sunday. Kickoff is at 11 a.m. PDT.
