Men's Hoops Adds Golson to 2015-16 Squad

CARSON -- Having already signed a pair of prized recruits at the beginning of the signing period, Cal State Dominguez Hills Men's Basketball Interim Head Coach Steve Becker has announced that point guard Vincent Golson has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Toros in 2015-16.

From San Francisco City College, Golson brings a litany of postseason awards from his junior college, and will look to make an impact on a squad that finished in the lower half of the league standings last year.

Golson, nicknamed "TuTu," earned 1st-team All-CCCAA state honors while leading SFCC to a 21-9 mark as he averaged 17.2 points, 4.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds per contest, also connecting on 54.3% of his attempts from the floor and 52.2% from behind the arc, while sinking 88% from the charity stripe in league play.

The sophomore point guard was voted the Player of the Year for the Coast North Conference, highlighted was his 29-point effort against Canada College, shooting a perfect 13 for 13 from the charity stripe to aid his monster effort.

"Tutu is a special player who comes from one of the most prestigious junior college programs in the country in San Francisco City College," begins Becker.  "He does an outstanding job as a leader, and does what it takes to win basketball games while his quickness and ability to shoot the basketball with high efficiency make him a very tough matchup.

"For all of his accomplishments on the court, his character off the floor and the pride he takes academically is just as impressive. Coach Justin Labagh (who sports a career record of 309-44), calls TuTu one of the toughest players he's ever coached."

In 2015-16, the Toros welcome back All-CCAA selection Justin Sadler and leading scorer Ivan Dooley, as well as seven additional returners.
