Toros Defeat Warriors 8-1 in Final Game of Homestand to Take Season Series

CARSON - Senior third baseman Brady Conlan led the Toro batters with a 3-5, 2 RBI, 2 run performance in an 8-1 win over visiting Cal State Stanislaus to help the Toros take a 3-1 series win.  Jeffrey Gogue pitched a scoreless 7 innings, while striking out 3 hitters.

With the win, the Toros improve to 9-7 overall and 4-4 CCAA, while the Warriros fall to 6-11 overall and 1-6 CCAA.

The hosts jumped on Warrior starter Colby Devries early with three runs, the big blow coming on a Fernando Gallegos 2RBI single.

Gallegos was the recipient of a bases loaded walk the next inning, with a Danny Matientzo sacrifice fly in the 5th and Conland RBI single in the 6th adding to the lead, and a 2-run 7th completing the scoring for the Cardinal and Gold.

The Warriors finally got on the board in the 8th with a single run, but it was too little, too late as CSUDH won three of four from the Warriors to take the season series.

Kevin Lenik and Gallegos added a pair of hits each, while Gogue picked up his first win of the year while scattering six hits and fanning three.

CSUDH continues hosting duties with a home-and-away series against cross-town rival Cal State L.A., starting with a single game on Thursday, set for 2 pm.
