Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Strong Second Half Pushes Coyotes to 68-56 Win

CARSON -- Visiting Cal State San Bernardino enjoyed a 26-to-9 points off turnovers advantage, and that was the difference as the Coyotes swept the regular season series from Cal State Dominguez Hills in a 68-56 contest, despite a team-high 15 points from sophomore Justin Sadler.

CSUDH drops to 5-16, 1-14 CCAA with the loss.

The visitors scored the game's first 10 points until an Ivan Dooley triple got the Toros on the board with nearly five minutes elapsed in the frame.

Down 12-3 at 13:34, an old-fashioned Jonathan Nichols 3-point play cut CSUDH's deficit by a third, with a Darius Butler bucket bringing the hosts to within four points.

The Toros clawed all the way back on a Shaquille Hunter jumper, and eventually took the lead on a pair of ensuing Brandon Woods freebies before a Coyote triple with five ticks left on the clock knotting the game at 30-30 entering the half.

The Coyotes took control after the half, rolling to a 46-37 lead on an Isaiah Morton triple at the 11:38 mark, only to have the Toros answer to within two points on a David Gonzalez 3-pointer.

CSUSB, however, answered back behind four consecutive points by Tevin Harris, with another triple by Morton spurring a 4-0 run that put the Yotes up by 15 with just a minute left in regulation in the eventual 12-point win.

Dooley finished with 14 points in the loss, while Sadler's game-high 12 boards gave him the game's lone double-double.

The Toros shot a respectable 66.7% from the charity stripe, but five more turnovers and four less 3-pointers were the difference.

CSUDH's road doesn't get any easier tomorrow night as the suddenly red-hot Lumberjacks visit Carson tomorrow night, with first tip set for 7:30 pm.
