Toros End Desert Stinger With 3-1 Win Over Host Montana State Billings

LAS VEGAS, Nv. -- Senior Kaci McGinnis (pictured) smacked a two-run single in the top of the 1st and junior Jamie Duran made it hold up with 7.0 strong innings as Cal State Dominguez Hills bested tournament-host Montana State Billings, 3-1, in the final game of the Desert Stinger Classic.

Winners of two-straight, the Toros improve to 2-5, with Duran picking up her first win of the new season.

The Toros continued from last night's momentum with two to open the game, with McGinnis singling home a pair of runs to stake Duran to a 2-0 lead.

The Yellowjackets cut their deficit in half after a solo homer in the 2nd, but Mootry continued her hot bat to get the run back, clubbing a solo homer to left center in the top of the 7th for an insurance run.

Duran did her part in the circle, tossing a complete-game with four strikeouts against one walk, scattering seven hits in the process.

Madison Murphy collected two hits as part of seven for the Toros, with Jazmyne Cortinas and Priscilla Cardona each collecting a hit.

The Toros open California Collegiate Athletic Association play this weekend on the road, traveling to Sonoma State for a four-game set.
