Toros Blanked in CCAA Tilt by Cal State San Marcos

CARSON -- Cal State San Marcos' Paulina Good was on the receiving end of a corner kick that was distributed by three other players, and flicked her shot past Cal State Dominguez Hills keeper Alexia Flippen in the 36th minute for what proved to be the lone goal in Sunday's California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer tilt.

The Toros drop their record to 1-9-0 overall, 0-5-0 in CCAA play, while the Cougars, in their first season as not only a member of the conference but in the NCAA Division II ranks, improve to 2-5-3, 2-3-1 in the league.

It was all Cougars on paper, outshooting the Toros 12-4 overall, 6-2 in goal. They also edged the crimson and gold in corner kick opportunities, 6-4.

The lone goal of the match was perfectly set up for Good. Morgan Simmons started with a pass to Natalie Lara in the box, Lara then headed the ball to Good where her shot goes right by Flippen near the right post.

The Toros had several opportunites but the closest chance came within the final minute, when a free kick on the top of the box was cleared by the Cougars.

CSUDH will step out of conference play Tuesday, when it welcomes BYU-Hawai`i to Toro Stadium for 7 p.m. showdown.
