No. 23 Sonoma State Rolls to Sweep Over Toros

ROHNERT PARK -- No. 23 Sonoma State held visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills to a .078 hitting percentage en route to a convincing 3-0 sweep over the Cardinal and Gold, with Alijah Gunsaulus the lone Toro to reach double-figure kills.

The loss drops the Toros to 7-15, 5-9 CCAA, and into 10th place in the league standings with the top 8 eligible for the CCAA Postseason Tournament.

Sonoma State made just 7 errors all night en route to hitting .307 themselves, putting away 38 balls in the process.

After surrendering the match's first three points, CSUDH took its first and only lead of the set at 5-4 on a Claire Autry kill, but the Seawolves outscored the Toros 21-12 the rest of the set for the 25-17 win.

SSU led from start to finish in set two, and allowed the Toros to take just one lead in the third set at 5-4 on the strong serve of Morelia Castro, but it was all Seawolves after that en route to a 25-14 win.

Autry added 8 kills and Vanessa Phyakeo 6, with Cathryn Lopez's 18 digs providing a bright spot in the match.

CSUDH's schedule doesn't get much easier as it travels 18 miles to crosstown rival Cal State L.A. on Thursday, October 29, with first set scheduled for 7 pm in the Eagles Nest.
