Second-Half Scores Not Enough as Toros Fall to Tritons, 4-2, on "Think Pink" Night

CARSON -- Four scores and a little more than seven minutes ago isn't an adequate substitute for Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, but UC San Diego freshman Mary Reilly scored all four goals in tonight's win over Cal State Dominguez Hills as the Tritons took a 4-2 decision on "Think Pink" night in Toro Stadium.

Despite second-half goals by Ida Eriksson and Kylee Patterson (pictured), CSUDH still is in search of its first CCAA win, dipping to 1-8, 0-5 CCAA.

Reilly began her deluge in the 19th minute after dribbling into the box and placing her shot to the left of Toro keeper Elisa Martin for an early 1-0 lead.

The freshman didn't spend too much time admiring her footwork as she doubled UCSD's lead just 13 minutes later after lofting her shot over Martin in the 32nd minute.

The Triton lead increased to 3-0 less than two minutes into the second half after beating a Toro defender, wheeling to her left and firing her shot near post past a diving Martin.

The Toros finally got on the scoreboard in the 54th minute after Eriksson headed a corner from Gabrielle Pena past Triton keeper Kelcie Brodsky, only to have Reilly answer in the 68th minute on a breakaway.

Kylee Patterson notched her second goal of the year and first of the night in the 77th minute after sending her blast off a Triton defender and the post before finding the back of the net, but it was too little, too late in UCSD's 4-2 win.

The visitors tallied a commanding 22-10 advantage in shots, forcing the Toro keepers to come up with 10 saves, also winning the corner battle, 5-3.

CSUDH will look to pick up its first league win on Sunday as it welcomes new CCAA school Cal State San Marcos for a 2 pm first kick.
