Toros Continue to Rule Road After 65-52 Win at CS Stanislaus

TURLOCK -- Junior Breanne Garcia netted a game-high 22 points while a pair of Toros tallied double-doubles to lead Cal State Dominguez Hills to its third-straight win and sixth-consecutive victory on the road.

CSUDH maintains its tie for second place in league play with Cal Poly Pomona in moving to 16-5, 11-2 CCAA.

"This is our third trip up north in four weeks, and though we were a step slow in the first half, we got it done with a good win on a tough road trip," begins CSUDH head coach Molly Goodenbour.

"Monay Lee and Talia Rayford started to rebound better and be more aggressive, and Breezy was scoring well and Tayler Champion hit some shots against their zone.  Overall, I am pleased we got the 'W'."

The Toros fell behind the Warriors early as the hosts maintained their lead until 60 seconds remained when a pair of Garcia freebies with 32 seconds left gave CSUDH a 31-30 lead entering the half thanks in large part to Garcia's 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor.

CSUS managed to the tie contest at 34-34 early in the second half, until a 10-5 run gave the Toros control of the game.  A Rayford layup at 7:24 gave CSUDH its first double-figure lead at 51-41, with a Champion triple at 3:25 giving the Toros an insurmountable 61-47 advantage en route to the 65-52 final.

Garcia entered the week as the CCAA's fifth best scorer at 14.1 points per game and helped her cause after nailing 7-of-11 from the floor that included three triples and five free throws.

Rayford (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Monay Lee (11 points, 11 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles for Cal State Dominguez Hills.

After being out-rebounded 23-16 in the first half, CSUDH reversed the tables with a 24-17 advantage in the second to keep the rebounds equal, a huge factor in tonight's win.

The Toros travel to Chico State tomorrow night looking for their third road sweep of the year, with first tip set for 5:30 pm.
