Brown, 4x4 Take Home CCAA Titles as CSUDH Earns 9 All-CCAA Honors at CCAA Championships

LA JOLLA -- Senior Charlene Brown claimed the CCAA Title in the 400 meter run on the third and final day of the CCAA Championships in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 55.41 before helping her 4x400 team defend its CCAA crown by nearly a full second as the third and final day of the championships came to an end.

This gives Brown five 1st-team All-CCAA Championships in her stellar career after claiming three Titles at last year's Championships.

The 4x400 squad of Sanita McNeally, LeShaya Evans, Brown and Kiana Cannon blazed through the finals in a time of 3:46.14, besting runner-up and host UC San Diego by .96 of a second before the quartet posted a 3rd-place finish in the 4x100 relay in a time of 47.10, eclipsing the 47.11 needed for an NCAA provisional mark to give Brown her sixth All-CCAA award.

Brown nearly made it seven in the 200 meter dash, but her time of 25.05 missed a 3rd-team honor by just .01 in a photo finish affair.

Kiana Cannon also qualified for today's 400 meter run final, but came in 9th in a time of 58.89.

The two All-CCAA honors claimed in the relays give both McNeally and Cannon four All-CCAA honors each after the two were part of last year's winning relay teams.

As a team, CSUDH finished 7th of 9 teams competing.  Here's a look at the CCAA awards won this weekend:
