Toros End TOC With 2-1 Loss to Western Oregon

Adriana Sanchez named to TOC All-Tournament Team

Box Score

TURLOCK -- Cal State Dominguez Hills ended the 2014 Tournament of Champions with a 2-1 loss against Western Oregon in the Consolation Bracket, managing just two hits.

Stephanie Hua drove in the lone run on the day as CSUDH went winless in the three-day tourney, one in which the Toros entered as the defending champions.  Despite not capturing a game, senior All-American Adriana Sanchez was named to the TOC All-Tournament team after batting .429 in the six games, slugging three home runs, driving in eight, and scoring four runs herself with five of her nine total hits going for extra bases as she posted a whopping .952 slugging percentage.

Just over 12 hours removed from dropping a 6-3 decision to the Wolves, the two teams locked horns again with Western Oregon again getting the best of the Cardinal and Gold.

WOU took an early lead with a run in the second, holding the Toros hitless through three.  In the fourth, however, CSUDH broke through to tie the game after Catherine Brown reached on an error to begin the ining.

After stealing second, Hua found the gap in right center to bring home Brown, who scored easily.

That's where the score remained until the fifth when WOU capitalized on a CSUDH error for the eventual game-winner as the Toros managed just one hit over the final three innings.

Toro starter Jamie Duran suffered the loss while scattering just four hits herself.

CSUDH has a week off before returning home to host Cal State Monterey Bay in the final home weekend of the regular season on April 18 and 19.
