CHICO -- Senior All-American slugger Adriana Sanchez went 3-for-3 with a single, double and home run while driving in six runs as Cal State Dominguez Hills made quick work of host Chico State in game one of the twinbill, taking down the Wildcats in a 9-0 decision that went just 5.0 innings due to the mercy run rule.

CSUC returned the favor in the nightcap with its own 7-0 win to split the afternoon twinbill to move the Toros to 14-8, 8-4 CCAA.

Freshman sensation Madison Murphy also went 3-for-3 with the other three RBI as sophomore Jamie Duran picked up the truncated win, fanning two and scattering two hits in the win.

The opener was over nearly before it began as the Toros scored five runs in the first two innings, and four more in the last two.

Sanchez did the 1st-inning damage with a 2RBI double to the left-center gap, and then belted in three more with a shot over the left field fence with two aboard.

Another Sanchez hit, this time a single, drove in Murphy with the Toros' seventh run in the fourth after a Murphy double one batter earlier drove in Catherine Brown, who was plunked to begin the frame, with Murphy singling home the final two runs one inning later to complete the scoring.

Sophomore Jamie Duran picked up the win after facing 19 total batters, allowing just two hits with two strikeouts.

The nightcap was a reversal of fortunes as Chico's bats touched Duran for three in the first and four in the second to put the game away early, the big blow coming on an Emily McEnaney 3-run blast in the second to force Duran from the game.

Sanchez notched one of the two Toro hits in the nightcap to finish the day 4-for-5 with a walk.

With 26 career blasts as a Toro, Sanchez now needs three home runs to become the program's all-time career home run leader after today's twinbill.

The two teams compete their four-game set tomorrow morning, with first pitch set for 11 am on the University Softball Field.
