CARSON -- Senior All-American Adriana Sanchez slugged her 29th career home run as a Toro to set the program's all-time career record for home runs, but visiting Cal State East Bay swept today's CCAA twinbill by 8-5 and 6-2 counts.

With the setbacks, CSUDH drops to 14-22, 8-18 CCAA.

Here's Sanchez's record-setting blast:

It was all Pioneers to begin the game, roaring to a 6-0 lead after the top of the 6th behind starter Emily Perlich who allowed just one hit after five innings of work.

The sixth proved different, however, as a Madison Murphy lead-off double set the stage for Sanchez's record-breaker one batter later as the home run queen belted an opposite field shot over the right center field fence for her ninth of the year, and 29th of her career.

CSUEB, however, earned those two runs right back in the seventh on a pair of Toro errors, before CSUDH mounted its own comeback in its bottom 7 at-bat.

After Stephanie Hua drew a leadoff walk, Jasmine Ruiz singled off the pitcher's foot and advanced a base one batter later before Brittany Brenner drew a pinch-hit walk of her own.

With the bases full, Murphy singled off the pitcher for a run, with a Veronica Vazquez RBI single and Sanchez sacrifice fly plating two more runs, Sanchez's RBI coming off reliever Kelsey Cairns, before Cairns induced a ground out with the tying run at the plate.

Murphy finished with a 3-for-4 effort with Sanchez driving in three in the history-making game.

Knotted at 1-1 after two innings of play after Alexandra Mootry's first big fly of the year, the Pioneers took the lead for good in the fourth with a single run, adding four more in the sixth after CSUDH tied the game again with its own single run in the fifth, courtesy of a Murphy blast.

Four home runs were hit in the nightcap as Kelsey Cairns and Jordan Abel combined for the win as Mootry notched the lone Toro multi-hit effort.

The two teams complete the four-game set tomorrow morning at 11 am, with available Toro alumni visiting their old stomping grounds where they will be introduced in between games.
