Gators Complete Sweep After 70-57 Win Over Toros

SAN FRANCISCO -- Host San Francisco State held Cal State Dominguez Hills to just eight field goals in the first half en route to a 31-19 lead, and that proved enough as the Gators took a 70-57 win to sweep the regular season series.

Pierson Williams led the Toros with 16 points in the loss as CSUDH drops to 7-15, 4-11.  SFSU, meanwhile, improves to 10-8, 8-7 CCAA.

The SF State men's basketball team forced 23 turnovers and held Cal State Dominguez Hills to 35% shooting as Nefi Perdomo scored a game-high 24 points to lead the hosts.
 
Perdomo was 8-for-10 from the field connecting on 6 of his 7 attempts from beyond the three-point land, while Max Fodor added 10 points and 6 boards for the Gators.
 
SF State held a 14-11 edge 10 minutes into the first half, as the hosts increased their lead to 31-19 heading into the locker room.

The Toros though cut the deficit to 37-28 on a three by Pierson Williams, but the Gators came right back and outscored their guests 19-10 to take a 58-40 lead with just five minutes on the clock.
 
Cal State Dominguez Hills would not go away as the guests cut the Gator lead to 66-57 with under a minute left, but SF State went four-for-four from the line to secure the 13-point win.

Moriba DeFreitas had 14 points off the bench for the visitors as the Toros committed 8 more turnovers than SFSU, resulting in a 17-9 points off turnovers edge for the Gators.

The Toros will look to get back on the winning track tomorrow at Sonoma State, with first tip set for 7:30 pm.
