Wildcats Shoot Lights Out in 85-60 Win Over Toros

CARSON -- Visiting Chico State erupted for a 50-point first half in taking a 50-25 lead at the break, and never looked back as the Wildcats shot 60.8% for the game en route to an 85-60 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Darnell Martin led the Toros with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting for the game.

Tonight's contest never was in question as the Wildcats ran out to a 10-point lead at 21-11 just five minutes into the contest, stretching it to 32-13 five minutes later en route to doubling the score on the hosts at the break at 50-25.

After seeing its deficit grow to 31 just two minutes into the second half, the Toros chipped away, getting to 64-43 after a Darnell Martin lay-up at the 11:37 mark.

Much to their credit, with Martin, Everett Turner and Steffon Neal leading the way, CSUDH continued to push the pace on offense and trap on defense to get back into the game, but Chico State continued its hot hand in the 85-60 final.

Pierson Williams added 11 in the loss, draining 3-of-6 from downtown, while Justin Sadler tallied a game-high eight boards.

CSUDH takes to the road this week for its final road trip, beginning at No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday night.
