Jamie Duran Named CCAA PItcher of the Week

WALNUT CREEK – Cal State Dominguez Hills' Jamie Duran has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of February 3-9.

This is Duran's first CCAA POW nod of her career.

The sophomore from Lake Isabella earned her first three wins on the season against Western Washington, 23rd-ranked Dixie State, and Montana State-Billings at the fifth annual Desert Stinger Invitational in Las Vegas.

Duran threw three complete games for a total of 20.0 innings, allowing just four earned runs on 22 hits for an ERA of 1.40.  

She led off the weekend offering all four earned runs on 12 hits, while walking three and striking out three in the Toros 10-5 win over the Vikings.

Saturday, in an 8-1 win over the nationally-ranked Red Storm, she recorded just seven hits, one unearned run, two walks, and two strikouts.  

During the final day of play, Duran pitched her best game all weekend with just three hits, no walks, and two strikouts in an 8-0, six-inning victory over the Yellowjackets.

In additon to her efforts on the mound, Duran also contributed offensively with two hits on the weekend, one of which was for extra bases.

The Toros open CCAA play this weekend at Cal State Stanislaus, before opening their homestand on February 21, against San Francisco State.
