Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Warriors Hand Toros Seventh 2-0 Loss of Year

TURLOCK -- Host Cal State Stanislaus dealt the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team a result six other teams had done this year this afternoon on Warrior Field, handing the Toros a 2-0 defeat for the seventh time this year.

Kristen Osuna rattled off both her shots on frame in the loss that moves CSUDH to 2-14-1, 2-8 CCAA.

Jade Poon and Kirsten Coleman ended the Warrior scoreless streak with two first half goals to propel Stanislaus as they improved to 12-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the CCAA.

Taking care of their own business on Sunday, the Warriors scored twice early in the first half to take control of the match. Poon scored for the first time in six games in the 16th minute after a nice touch from Tina Benson and a pass from Lauren Thornton to allow Poon a one-v-one chance. Poon deposited the ball past Jennifer Ackelry for her 12th goal of the year.

The Warriors needed just two-and-a-half minutes to score again as Coleman to found the back of the net on a breakaway for her eighth score of the season.

Stanislaus controlled the rest of the match, ending up with a 20-7 shot-advantage including a 13-1 second half dominance.  Ackerly finished with six saves while counterpart Katie Foster earned five.

CSUDH will conclude its 2014 campaign on Thursday at UC San Diego, with first kick set for 7 pm.
