Box Score

CHICO -- Host Chico State took a 38-22 lead at the half, and held on for 79-65 win over visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills to drop the Toros to 5-9, 2-5 CCAA.  Darnell Martin and DeShaun Freeman paced CSUDH with 14 points each in the loss.

Chico State's Amir Carraway tallied game-high totals of 25 points and 11 boards to lead all players, adding three assists and two steals to lead the Wildcats in the comfortable win.

The fourth-year senior scored the Wildcats' first eight points to give them the lead for good. Chico State's defense made sure of that, holding the Toros to just one bucket over the final 9:23 of the first half as its lead swelled to 38-22.

Carraway, who hit all five of his first-half shots, went to the break with 13 points. He scored 12 points in the second half while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists.

The lead was 12 or better for the game's final 22 minutes even though the Wildcats let off the pedal defensively, allowing 43 second-half points while scoring 41.

Everett Turner added nine with Steffon Neal garnering a team-high eight boards as the Wildcats earned 10 more attempts from the line than the Toros en route to converting nine more on the night.

The Toros will look to snap their skid tomorrow night at CS Stanislaus after the Warriors handed Cal State L.A. its first league loss of the year.
