Volleyball Receives Votes in AVCA Week 2 Poll

Seniors (L-R) Abbey Prusa, Whitney Lee and Elizabeth Krieger and their Toros received votes in this week's AVCA poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Coming off an undefeated 4-0 weekend at the UC San Diego Invitational, including a 3-0 sweep of No. 10 Fresno Pacific to give the program its first win over a top 10 team, the Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team received votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll, it was announced today by the AVCA.

Hear what seniors Hannah Oros (L) and Abbey Prusa have to say about receiving votes, and the history the volleyball program has made and can make this year:

Currently at 7-1 overall, the Toros are tied with Sonoma State for the second-best overall mark amongst CCAA teams, with both trailing the Tritons who sit at perfect 8-0 thus far.

Also going 4-0 at its tournament, UCSD moved up five spots to No. 8, while the Seawolves moved up six places to No. 18.  CS San Bernardino, meanwhile, dropped four spots to No. 22 as the Coyotes begin their quest for their eighth-consecutive CCAA Championship this weekend with the start of league play.

Amongst schools in the NCAA West Region, BYU-Hawai'i sits at No. 4, Western Washington at No. 13 and Central Washington at No. 24.

The Toros received the second-most votes amongst schools not in the Top 25, making them an unofficial No. 27 in the AVCA poll.

CSUDH begins its CCAA schedule on the road this week, taking on Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday before a Saturday date with Humboldt State.  The Toros then host Sonoma State to open its home schedule on Friday, September 27, with first serve set for 7 pm in the Torodome.
