Jimenez Named 1st-Team to Lead Four Toros Named to All-CCAA Squads

All-CCAA Selections

WALNUT CREEK -- Fresh off consecutive CCAA Pitcher of the Week awards, senior ace Stephanie Jimenez added another honor to her trophy case as the Norwalk native was named a 1st-team All-CCAA selection, as voted on by the league head coaches.

Jimenez was joined by 2nd-team All-CCAA selections in shortstop Christina Chavez and at-large selection Adriana Sanchez, as well as honorable mention junior Brittany Brenner.

In an interesting result for one of the league's top honors, Sonoma State's Samantha Lipperd was voted the CCAA Pitcher of the Year for the second-consecutive year although she was named to just the 2nd-team behind Jimenez and Humboldt State's freshman sensation Katie Obbema.

Jimenez was named the league's Pitcher of the Week four times (the most of any pitcher), including the last two weeks after tossing her first-career no-hitter on "Senior Day," one hit batter away from a perfect game  She currently leads the league in wins, ERA, IP, KL, runs per game and earned runs per game, and sits 2nd in K and opponents batting average and 4th in earned runs allowed.

Additionally, she is 5th in the NCAA in wins, 15th in shutouts, 17th in ERA and 22nd in strikeouts.  Jimenez earlier was named the Tournament of Champions MVP as well as to TOC and Best of West All-Tourney teams and has come on stronger as of late, fanning 62 batters against just four walks in her last nine starts.

Entering this Friday's CCAA Tournament game against CCAA regular season champion Humboldt State, Jimenez is just two strikeouts away from passing the record she set just last season, and will look to continue adding to her career records in wins, saves, strikeouts, and innings pitched.

Sanchez, meanwhile, picks up a 2nd-team honor after leading the league in hits and RBI per game, and sits 2nd in SLG%, runs, hits, RBI, HR, total bases and runs per game, and 3rd in batting average and doubles.

Additionally, the San Fernando native is 12th in the NCAA in home runs while leading the team in batting average, runs, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, SLG% and OB% while being named a CCAA Player of the Week once after earning Desert Stinger MVP honors.

Senior Chavez earned her second-straight 2nd-team All-CCAA honor after also being named the CCAA Newcomer of the Year in 2012.  The Carson native ranks 11th in total bases in the CCAA and has enjoyed 16 multi-hit and 9 multi-RBI games, as well as a season-best 10-game hit streak.  She was named to the Best of the West All-Tournament team and currently leads the team in doubles, triples and stolen bases, and sits 2nd in home runs, runs, hits and total bases, and 3rd in RBI.

Brenner was named to an All-CCAA team for the first time in her career while enjoying a breakout junior season.  The Rancho Cucamonga native ranks 6th in walks in the CCAA and has enjoyed 11 multi-hit and 7 multi-RBI games.  She also was named to the Desert Stinger All-Tournament team and sits 2nd on the team in home runs, RBI and OB%, 3rd in batting average, runs, triples, hits and SLG%.

The CCAA regular season Champion Jacks swept the other individual awards as Chrissy Stalf was named MVP, Obbema was named Freshman of the Year with Hannah Williams sharing Co-Newcomer of the Year honors with CSUMB's Vanessa Avila, and HSU's Frank Cheek earning Coach of the Year honors.

The Toros and Lumberjacks hook up on Friday in the tournament's first game, set for a 3 pm first pitch at Arnaiz Stadium in Stockton.
