CARSON -- Knowing this would be the final time she would step into the circle in Toro Diamond, senior Stephanie Jimenez made it a "Senior Day" to remember as she tossed her first-career 7.0 inning no-hitter against Cal State Stanislaus, missing out on a perfect game by a hit batter as the Toros took a 5-0 win to open play on a picture- perfect Saturday afternoon before taking a 1-0 win in the nightcap.

With the sweep and Chico State's loss to UC San Diego in the nightcap of their doubleheader in Chico, the Toros qualify as the fourth and final team to make the CCAA Championship Tournament, and will face regular season champion Humboldt State in the first round on Friday, May 3, at a time to be determined in Arnaiz Stadium, in Stockton, California.

The opener was all Jimenez as the senior fanned six of the first nine batters she faced.

A hit batter to lead off the 4th spoiled the perfect game bid, but a 6-4-3 double play kept the number of batters Jimenez faced at the minimum.

Jimenez added four more Ks over the final three innings in facing just 21 batters in the game, the minumum required for 7.0 innings of work.

CSUDH's bats staked Jimenez to an early lead, with Adriana Sanchez hammering a rope to left field for a single, moving to second on a walk to Veronica Vazquez and to third on a Brittany Brenner single, allowing Jimenez to drive in the game's first run with a sacrifice fly.

The lead increased to 2-0 two innings later after another lead-off single by Sanchez, who advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Brenner opposite-field baseknock.

CSUDH had a chance to break the game open in the 6th after CSUS' Brittany Weatherford walked two batters, and a Warrior error kept the inning alive and loading the bases.

Kaci McGinnis made them pay with an RBI single, with consecutive walks bringing home two more runners to bring up Sanchez.

The CSUDH single-season home run leader, however, sent a fly ball to left field to set the stage for Jimenez's history-making performance in the 7th, finishing with 10 strikeouts against zero walks.

In the nightcap, Jimenez was able to exhale after CSUS earned its first hit of the game in the 2nd.

The game was scoreless until the 5th when Vazquez began the frame with a double to right, and pinch-runner Jamie Duran moved to third on a Brenner single.

After a flurry of Warrior defensive changes, including Weatherford making a relief appearance to spell starter Kristan Burns, Catherine Brown laced a single down the left field line for what would prove to be the game's lone run.

Jimenez allowed four hits in the game in the win to improve to 24-7, with Jessica Hall leading the offense with a pair of hits.

In between games, seven Toros were honored in Daisy Beltran, Ciara Campos, Chavez, Hall, Lauren Harper, Jimenez and Paige Rhodes, whose season will continue at the conference tournament this weekend.

Humboldt State, currently the nation's leader in home runs and ranked No. 6 in the NFCA, swept the regular season series in Arcata, but dropped a close game to the Toros in the Tournament of Champions tournament in April.

The game will take place on Friday, at a time to be determined.
