SEASIDE -- Cal State Monterey Bay's two errors in the top of the 11th resulted in three unearned Toro runs, and that proved the difference as CSUDH took a 4-1 win over the Otters to open Saturday's twinbill before the Toros held on for a 6-4 win in the nightcap to sweep the regular season series.

Senior ace Stephanie Jimenez went the distance to pick up the win in the opener with 11 strikeouts against zero walks, while taking the game two win after 3.2 innings of relief to move the Toros to 30-19, 17-15 CCAA.

The weekend sweep leaves CSUDH just two games out of the fourth and final spot to qualify for the CCAA Championship Tournament, with one weekend left in the regular season.

The Toros and Otters had difficulty scoring early, as Jimenez and CSUMB's Cori Reinhardt kept opposing hitters off the board.

That all changed in the 5th after Adriana Sanchez lined a 2-out single up the middle to drive home pinch-runner Jamie Duran to break the scoreless tie.

CSUMB answered an inning later on an infield RBI single by Reinhardt, a run that would close the scoring after regulation.

After three scoreless extra frames, the first of two Otter errors allowed Catherine Brown to reach first to open the inning, where Veronica Vazquez drove her home with an RBI single to center.

A second error by the hosts allowed another runner to reach and a run to score, and an Alyssa Cruz-Fernandez RBI baseknock one batter later closed the scoring and gave CSUDH a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Sanchez and Christina Chavez each belted a pair of hits in the win as Jimenez improved to 19-7 on the year.

In the nightcap, a Sanchez 2-run bomb started a 4-run 3rd for the Toros, with an Otter error accounting for a pair of unearned runs to close the inning's scoring.

CSUDH looked to make it a runaway with a pair of runs in the 4th on a Daisy Beltran RBI single and a wild pitch that brought home Jessica Hall for a 6-0 lead.

CSUMB, however, wouldn't go down without a fight, using an RBI single for its first run in the 4th which prompted a pitching change for the Toros, and then a bases-clearing double by Lauren Ermitano make it 6-4.

Reliever Jimenez would buckle down after that hit, finding her rhythm and retiring the final seven batters she faced to seal Saturday's and the series sweep.

Chavez enjoyed her second multi-hit contest as part of CSUDH's 7 hits on the day, with game two starter Lauren Harper getting the no-decision after scattering 5 hits in 3.1 innings, with a pair of strikeouts.

The Toros, looking to move up from No. 6 in this week's NCAA Regional rankings, will conclude their regular season next week as Cal State Stanislaus visits Carson, with Friday's twinbill set for a 1 pm start on Toro Diamond.
