Toros Pull Away for 65-58 Win at CS Monterey Bay

Box Score

SEASIDE -- Displaying the trademark defense that has made Cal State Dominguez Hills a men's basketball power, the Toros held host Cal State Monterey Bay to just two points over the final 3:22 of the game en route to a 65-58 win over the Otters tonight.

Myron Green and Pierson Williams (pictured) each poured in 12 points as four Toros scored in double figures.

The teams played nip-and-tuck in the first 20 minutes of play, with the Toros only able to forge a 4-point lead twice in the frame before holding a slim 33-32 lead entering the half.

The Otters opened the second half with a triple by Alex Fertig to take a 35-33 lead, and stretch it to four points on two occasions two minutes later.

A Lamine Diame bucket at 14:09 tied the score at 42-all, and an Alex Strauther triple on CSUDH's next possession gave the visitors another slim lead.

That momentum led to a game-high 7-point on a pair of Green freebies at the 8:52 mark, with CSUDH still clinging to a 5-point lead after a Diame tipin at 3:22.

That's when CSUDH's defense locked in on the Otters, holding them to just a pair of points the rest of the way while scoring 4 points themselves in the 7-point win.

Givon Crump added 11 points and Diame 10 as the Toros picked up their second-consecutive victory after dropping four-straight heading into this weekend's play.

The Toros will conclude their regular season home schedule next weekend as Sonoma State visits Friday on "CSUDH Faculty Appreciation Night," with San Francisco State visiting on Saturday's "Senior Night."  Both games will be streamed live on the Toro Sports Network by clicking here.
