Cold Second Half Spells Doom in Toros 74-53 Loss to Coyotes

SAN BERNARDINO -- Host Cal State San Bernardino benefited from a Cal State Dominguez Hills cold-shooting second half to turn a 32-29 halftime lead into a 74-53 blowout to stay perfect in league play.  DeShaun Freeman led CSUDH with 12 points in the loss.

With the decision, CSUDH falls to 4-4, 1-1 CCAA, while CSUSB moves to 2-1, 2-0 CCAA.

After the Yotes hit a triple to pen the scoring, the Toros took their first lead of the contest on a triple by Matt Cain, before the teams forged three ties over the next eight minutes.

CSUSB, however, regained the lead on a Joshua Gouch lay-up, and stretched its lead to as much as 8 at 26-18 before settling for a 32-29 lead entering the break.

That would be as good as it would get for the visitors as the Yotes used a Lacy Haddock dunk at the 18:10 mark to take a 7-point edge, before a Haddock triple gave CSUSB a 14-point lead of 52-38 with 12:32, signaling the beginning of the end for the Toros.

A Pablo Genevo jumper nine minutes later gave CSUSB its largest lead of the night at 25 en route to the 74-53 final.

Lamine Diame chipped in 10 boards and 6 points in the loss, with Myron Green and Givon Crump each contributing 8 points.

CSUDH will look to get back on the winning track tomorrow night at La Jolla, which fell to Cal State L.A. earlier tonight.
