Host Antelopes Take 78-69 Win Over Toros at GCU Tournament

Myron Green chipped in 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field in today's loss

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Host Grand Canyon shot 56.7% en route to a 45-33 halftime lead, and held off Cal State Dominguez Hills in a 78-69 decision at the GCU Arena.  Senior Lamine Diame had another monster game with 18 points and 14 points in the loss.

With the decision, CSUDH falls to 4-3, while GCU moves to 5-2.

The first half proved decisive as the 'Lopes drained 24-of-54 shots from the field, including a superb 8-of-12 from long range.  The Toros, meanwhile, made just 11 field goals and 4 from long range after falling behind by double-figures just 8 minutes into the contest.

CSUDH managed to cut the first half lead to single digits as late as the 8:38 mark on a Diame lay-up, but the Antelopes built as much as a 15-point lead until another Diame lay-up cut the Toro deficit to 42-33, only to see a Joshua Lowery triple put GCU up 45-33 entering the half.

The Antelopes kept their double-figure edge throughout the second half, until a pair of free throws by Alex Strauther cut CSUDH's climb to just 8 points at 64-56 at the 4:33 mark.

GCU, however, kept the pressue on by hitting its free throws down the stretch en route to the 9-point win.

Myron Green added 14 points and 4 boards while Mitrell Clark added 11 points and 3 assists.

Lowery finished with game-high honors after dropping 19 points, and was aided by a pair of 'Lope double-figure scorers.

CSUDH will return to CCAA Conference action next weekend on the road, traveling to CS San Bernardino on Friday.
