Toros Take Down Academy of Art 74-51 at GCU Thanksgiving Classic

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Thanks to an efficient first half offense, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros defeated the Academy of Art Urban Knights 74-51 at the GCU Thanksgiving Classic.  Senior forward Lamine Diame led the Toros with 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.  With the victory, CSUDH extended its winning streak to three games to raise their record to 4-2.

The Toros never trailed after Lamine Diame scored the first four points of the game to take a 4-0 lead.  The Urban Knights (1-3) responded by cutting the lead to one at 6-5 with 17:46 left in the first half before CSUDH went on a 19-3 run over the next 7:58 to take a 25-8 stranglehold of the game.

CSUDH rode its offense by shooting 48% from the field and turning the ball over only two times to a 42-24 halftime advantage.  Diame led the team in the first half with 12 points going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Both teams played each other evenly in the second half though the Urban Knights were unable to cut the gap down to single digits.  After seeing their lead hover around 12 points, the Toros ended the game on an 18-5 run over the last 7:15 to bring the final margin to 23 points at 74-51.
