Green's 16 Pushes Toros to 75-74 Win Over Biola

CARSON -- Senior Myron Green scored the final two of his 16 points with 14 ticks left in regulation, and those were enough to give the Toros a thrilling 75-74 win over a game Biola squad in the final home game of the 2012 calendar year.

With the win, CSUDH improves to 3-2, while BU drops its second-straight game in falling to 4-2.

Here's Green on his bucket and the game itself.

Both teams played nip-and-tuck to begin the first half, with neither team taking more than a 4-point lead until the 11:33 mark when Biola's Kyle Bailey connected on a triple to give the Eagles an 18-12 lead.

Buckets by Myron Green and DeShaun Freeman cut the Toro deficit to just two, but consecutive buckets by Christopher Jones again pushed BU's lead to six at 22-16.

Still up by six with just six minutes to play, 3-pointers by Mitrell Clark and Pierson Williams knotted the game at 30-all, with Clark giving the Toros a 42-40 lead with 32 ticks left in the half.

An offensive first-half, the teams combined for 10 3-point makes with the Toros shooting 53.3% and the Eagles 58.6%, led by Freeman and David Cline with 12 points apiece.

The second half saw Biola surge to a 6-point lead on a Dakota Anderson lay-up five minutes into the period, only to have the Toros reply and take a 4-point lead on a Ryan Jefferson triple.

BU answered again en route to a 9-point lead on a buvket by mike Kurtz with 8:12 left to go, but nine-consecutive points the Toros capped by a Lamine Diame lay-up after a steal knotted the game at 66-all with 6:15 in regulation.

The game came down the wire with Biola clining to a 3-point lead until a pair of Mitrell Clark freebies cut it to one, setting up Green's heroics.

DeShaun Freeman chipped in 12 points with Diame 11, and Clark and Matt Cain 10 apiece.

The Toros shot 53.8% from the field overall with Biola just behind at 53.4%, as the teams combined for 15 makes from long range, with Biola making 9.

The Toros take to the road the rest of the calendar year before returning home on January 4, 2013, hosting CS Monterey Bay for a 7:30 pm tip on the "Dave Yanai Court" in the Torodome.  The contest will be streamed live on the Toro Sports Network at www.GoToros.com/live.
