STOCKTON -- After avoiding elimination in a 9-5 extra inning victory over Chico State earlier in the day, the Toros could not do it again in a rematch against No. 8 UC San Diego.  Cal State Dominguez Hills rallied late after falling behind 5-0 but was eliminated by a 6-2 final to miss out on the CCAA Championship series by one win.  Senior Krista Gould went four-for-four with a run and two RBIs in the early game win.

In the opener, the Wildcats staged a five-run bottom of the seventh rally to knot the game at 5-5 after the Toros used a five-run top of the third to take an early 5-0 lead.  Undaunted, CSUDH took the game back to start the eighth frame on five hits and an error leading to four runs and a 9-5 victory.

For the game, senior Jessica Amador had two doubles, a run and an RBI while junior Khryssi Steele and freshman Melissa Pacheco had a run and two hits each.

After a little over a half hour break, the rematch of the opening game in the CCAA tournament began with the No. 8 UCSD taking advantage of two Toro errors that led to four unearned runs in the top of the second to take a 4-0 lead.

CSUDH did inch closer, scoring one in the bottom of the fourth and fifth making the score 5-2.  The problem was clutch hitting as CSUDH collected 11 baserunners over the final four innings, but stranded eight of them including the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth when it was just a three run deficit.

Despite ending the 2011 season prematurely, next year looks bright with 15 letter-winners returning in 2012, led by last year's CCAA MVP in Emiley McEwen and the stellar pitching duo of Stephanie Jimenez and Lauren Harper, who will have a combined six years of postseason experience between the talented trio.
