SAN BERNARDINO -- On a night where the team shot only 4.8% from behind the arc, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros did their best to keep the game respectable, eventually falling to Cal State San Bernardino by a 70-38 final. The bench did a great job, scoring 22 of the team's 38 while the Toros won the rebounding battle 44-43. Junior Tiffany Smith scored 12 points off the bench while adding nine rebounds.

Like many of the CSUDH's games, the team started out slowly, allowing CSUSB to score the first four points of the game before tying it at four with 15:28 left in the half. That was as good as it would get for the Toros as the third-place Coyotes would blitz them on a 13-2 run over the next 6:11 capturing all the momentum.

Over the next 9:17 CSU San Bernardino would inch away, finally to the tone of a 32-16 score at halftime in favor of the Coyotes. CSUDH's starters scored only six points in the first half, struggling from the field.

The start of the second half did not bring the Toros any relief as CSUSB would continue to pull away, often with the score continuing to be doubled up in the Coyotes favor, before the eventual 70-38 tally.

For the game CSUDH was outshot 45% to 21% with the Toro starters being outscored 48-16.  Turnovers once again hurt CSUDH as they committed 20 to only 11 by the home team.  The toughest part of the evening was from behind the arc where CSUDH hit only one of 21 shots (4.8%).

Junior Nikki Boutte' raised her season average by scoring 12 points and grabbing three rebounds.

The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros' road gets more difficult tomorrow as they face the second-place team in the CCAA, the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos at 5:30pm in Pomona.
