Toros Volleyball Defeated by No. 24 Chico State in Three

Senior Olivia White led the team with 26 assists on the evening

CARSON -- Facing the 24th ranked Chico State women's volleyball team, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros played hard until the very end before falling in three (18-25, 15-25, 18-25) in another tough match. Senior Olivia White led the team with 26 assists on the night.

The Toros offense in the first set was effective at times with most of their difficulties coming on the defensive end.  CSUC hit .438 for the set with an 8-2 run putting a two-point deficit for the Toros out of reach with the final 25-18. CSUDH junior middle blocker Delea Pursel provided most of the Toros offense with four kills.

Set two proved to be the toughest for the CSUDH as the Wildcats never took their foot off the gas pedal and pulled away to a 25-15 set win.  Junior Whitney Crosby was one of the effective Toros on the attack, smashing three kills in the set.

In the third set the Toros stayed close trailing only 13-10 before Chico State exploded for another 8-2 run to hold on to a 25-18 final score.  Sophomore Abbey Prusa notched three kills in the final set.

For the match CSUC won the attack and blocking battles, going .330 to .083 on the attack while blocking seven compared to only three by the Toros.  Sophomore Elizabeth Krieger led the team with seven kills and 13 digs.
