Coyotes Avenge Earlier Loss With 2-0 Win Over Toros

SAN BERNARDINO -- Although not mathematically eliminated from California Collegiate Athletic Association postseason play, today's 2-0 loss at Cal State San Bernardino dropped the Toros into the cellar of the CCAA's South Division with five regular season games to play.

With the loss, CSUDH falls to 6-6-1, 4-6-1 CCAA.

The Toros put themselves in an early hole as the hosts used a corner and ensuing scramble to tally the game's first score as Carissa Kutkowski put home the honors in the 11th minute of play.

That's where it remained until 13 minutes left in regulation when Casey Hirsch collected a missed header and punched it past CSUDH keeper #Tiffany Hollis# for an insurance goal in the blanking.

Hollis stopped 3 shots in the loss, while counterpart Chelsey Jones matched Hollis with 3 saves.

The hosts out-shot the Toros 11-8, including a slim 5-3 edge after the break, but enjoyed an 8-3 advantage in corners that helped in their win.

The Toros' task at saving the season doesn't get any easier on Sunday as CSUDH travels to No. 6 UC San Diego, with the Tritons enjoying thier longest undefeated start since 1994.
