Track & Field Breaks Out at USC's Trojan Invitational


LOS ANGELES -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's track & field team posted some of their best results of the 2010 outdoor season at USC's Trojan Invitational, highlighted by Nancy Blake's 55.40 finish in the 400-meter dash, earning her 6th place and a personal best time in the event.

Blake's time is just 0.40 seconds over an NCAA automatic qualifying time for the 2010 championships.  Blake has now carded two finishes that have earned her a provisional qualification in the event.

Chanel Parker also lowered a time, this one in the 100-meter dash as she finished 4th in 14.24, a quarter of a second over the automatic qualification time.

Among the field of over fifteen universities including Division I powerhouses USC, UC Santa Barbara, Sacramento State, University of Las Vegas and Long Beach State to name a few, it was Toros' two relay teams who stood out with both making provisional times in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

The 4x400 team consisting of Blake, Parker, Dora Baldwin and Destiny Tyler  also set a provisionally qualifying mark, coming in 3rd with a time of 3:49.24 to best UNLV, Cal State Fullerton and CSULB.

Tyler - 100m Dash (12.40, 14th)
Judith Fisher - Javelin (31.38, 9th)

Blake, Parker, Baldwin, Tyler - 4x400 Relay (3:49.24, 3rd)
White, Tyler, Jackson, Parker - 4x100 Relay (47.09, 5th)

The Toros will continue the 2010 season as they travel to USC's cross-town rival UCLA to take part in the Cal/Nevada Championships on Saturday, March 28.
