CARSON -- Senior catcher Michelle Miranda slugged her first career home run as part of a three-home run afternoon by CSUDH to help lead the Toros to a 5-4 and 4-3 sweep over visiting CS San Bernardino in non-conference action.  The Toros improve to 9-5 with the wins.

The opener saw the visitors take a 2-0 lead after three hits off CSUDH starter Lauren Harper to start the contest, only to have the Toros reply two innings later, with two runs coming on an Amber Angel rocket over the left field fence, her fourth of the year.

Two ensuing errors after base hits allowed two more runners to cross to plate, giving CSUDH a 4-2 lead.

The 'Yotes replied themselves in their next at-bat as Jaquelyn Holtzclaw came through with runners on 2nd and 3rd with a single tie game at 4-4.

That's where the score remained until the bottom of the 7th as Rose Vargas came through with the game-winner as she laced a single to right field to plate Caitlin McGrath, who punched a one-out single to left center to start the rally.

Harper improved to 3-1 in her second game back from injury, while CSUSB's Carly Land fell to 0-3 after 2.2 innings of work.

After seeing just 28 at-bats in the three years before this season, Miranda demonstrated early in the nightcap why she's earned her right in the batting order after taking a 1-1 offering from CSUSB game two starter Cassidy Lee and hammering it over the fence for her first home run of her career.

Toros power hitter Emiley McEwen followed Miranda's lead in the 4th after taking Lee's first pitch over the right field fence with two runners on board to give CSUDH a 4-0 lead after four.

The Coyotes, however, clawed back after executing a double-steal of second base and hope plate, and an RBI groundout cut the lead to 4-2, trimming it even more with a solo shot by Britny Butler to lead off the 7th, but CSUDH starter Stephanie Jimenez retired the final three CSUSB batters to move her record to 5-2.

The Toros, now 9-5 on the year, resume CCAA action this weekend as they travel to Chico State for a four-game set.
