Toros Set Sights on Indoor Nationals in 2010's Track & Field Opener

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- In only the first meet of the season, two Toros of the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's track & field team grabbed an NCAA Indoor Championship provisional qualifying mark, Nancy Blake in the 400-meter dash with an adjusted time of 56.95 and Chanel Parker in the 60-meter hurdles at an adjusted 8.75.

Grabbing third place and a final time of 56.85 in the 400-meter, newcomer Blake's adjusted time of 56.95 was nearly good enough for a full second advantage against the provisional qualifying time of 57.50.

Defending two-time All-American will look to once again grab an AA nod with an actual time of 8.71 adjusted to 8.75 in the 60-meter hurdles, well below the provisional qualifying mark of 9.00 and close to the automatic qualifying mark of 8.60.  Parker finished second in the event.

Also a newcomer in the 2010 season, Monikkia White grabbed ninth place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.78, .03-seconds off the provisional time of 7.75.

Another standout on the day included Dora Baldwin who was .75-seconds off of her personal best in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 57.55 in the seeds and 58.72 in the finals to finish second in a field of 14 athletes.

Amada Haro - Long Jump (3.38m, 11th)
Janette Morfin - 400-Meter Dash (1:02.30, 9th)

Destiny Tyler - 200-Meter Dash (26.76, 8th)
