Toros Flat in 3-0 Loss to Cal State L.A. in CCAA League Opener


CARSON -- The visiting Golden Eagles made themselves right at home on a warm Tuesday afternoon in Toro Stadium, keeping their perfect record and scoreless streak intact with a dominating 3-0 win to drop CSUDH to 1-3, 0-1 CCAA on the year.

CSULA scored its first two goals in a span of seven minutes, the first coming on a 50/50 ball won by Golden Eagle Liz Franco at 20:51 for a 1-0 lead, followed by a floater from 25 yards out by Alex Conley at 27:07 to make the score 2-0.

The Golden Eagles, now 4-0, 1-0 CCAA, closed the scoring at 66:42 after a Kelly Melanson free kick found Natalie Martin in front of the Toro goal, whose header beat CSUDH keeper #Alyssa Congdon# for the game's final goal.

The Toros were out-shot 20-4, including 12-1 in the first half, although they enjoyed a 3-2 edge in corners.

CSUDH will try to regroup on Friday as it hosts Cal State San Bernardino for a 7:00 pm prime time match-up at Toro Stadium, on the Home Depot Center's Track and Field Facility.
