Grand Canyon Finishes Comeback in 3-2 Win Over Toros


PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Junior #Makenzie Pedrotti# started hot with the game's first two goals on a hot and muggy early evening at Antelope Stadium, but host Grand Canyon finished hotter with three unanswered goals in the 'Lopes 3-2 win to keep the Toros winless to start 2009, bringing CSUDH to 0-2 on the young season.

Pedrotti got the Toros on the board quickly, scoring twice in a span of four minutes, the second coming on an assist from #Colleen McNamee#.

GCU, however, showed a different side after the break, scoring 53 seconds into the second half and adding the equalizer six minutes later.

The score remained knotted at 2-2 until the 80th minute when Kayla Poe header her shot past Toro keeper #Alyssa Congdon# for the eventual game-winner.

Both teams tallied seven shots in the first half, but the 'Lopes turned it on after the break, out-shooting the Toros 8-2 with three goals to show for their offensive crescendo.

CSUDH returns home on Tuesday, September 1, to host Cal State San Marcos in Toro Stadium, with first kick set for 4:30 pm.
