Farfan Leads Toros to 4-0 and 2-1 Sweep of Wildcats

Game 1  Game 2

Carson, CA -- Senior Regina Farfan continued her dominance over visiting Chico State this morning, tossing 13.0 total innings and picking up two wins in CSUDH's 4-0 and 2-1 victories over the Wildcats, moving Cal State Dominguez Hills to 21-11, 11-5 CCAA and giving the Toros a 3-1 regular season series win over CSUC.

Farfan helped herself at the plate in the bottom of the second in the opener as she drove in Liz Vazquez with the game's first run on a 3-2 rope down the left field line.  After Jessica Marlow made it 2-0 with an RBI single of her own, Farfan made it 3-0 after scoring on a passed ball.

Junior Amber Angel made it 4-0 with a solo blast to lead off the sixth, which was more than enough for Farfan as she scattered five hits in the complete game shutout.

The Chino native retired the side twice and faced four batters in three innings as Angel paced the Toros with a 3-for-3 effort in the win.

The nightcap was a near repeat of the early game as the Toros scored first, this time in the third inning on a Michelle Miranda baseknock to start the rally.  After the next two batters reached base on singles, a Khryssi Steel baseknock drove in Miranda with the game's first run.

Chico State looked to rally by plating its first run of the morning in the sixth on a Toro fielding error, but CSUDH rallied right back using a Steele double, an Emiley McEwen single and Vazquez ground out to score what would prove to be the game-winner.

Farfan tossed 6.0 innings in the nightcap to move to 13-7, scattering three hits in the win, with Steele tallying two hits to lead the offense.

CSUDH, now 21-11, 11-5 CCAA, travels to CS San Bernardino next weekend before embarking to Turlock for the Tournament of Champions, returning home on Monday April 6, to host University of South Dakota for a non-conference twinbill, set to begin at high noon.
