Toros Exhibit Patience in 5-2 and 5-3 Sweep Over Otters

Game 1  |  Game 2

Carson, CA -- Patience is a virtue, and a trait Cal State Dominguez Hills employed in both games of this afternoon's twinbill against Cal State Monterey Bay, using back-to-back home runs in game one and a 3-run fourth in the nightcap in 5-2 and 5-3 wins over the Otters.  Katie Jordan led the offense with a 5-for-6 effort on the day.

Things looked grim for the Toros in the opener after spotting the Otters single runs in both the second and fourth innings, but after consecutive singles by Khryssi Steele and Emiley McEwen and a sacrifice that moved them to second and third, a dropped fly ball in right field gave CSUDH two runs to knot the game at 2-2.

With Jessica Marlow at third, the beneficiary of the three-base error, Amber Angel stepped up and hammered an 0-1 pitch over the left center field fence to double the score on the Otters.

CSUMB changing pitchers failed to quell the Toro rally as Regina Farfan followed Angel's lead with a blast of her own over the center field fence to end the scoring.

Kaci Carroll threw 3.2 innings in relief to pick up the win, with Farfan picking up two hits and Angel 2 RBI in the victory.

In the nightcap, the Toros faced a 3-2 deficit heading into the bottom of the fourth when they put across three runs in the inning in the eventual 5-3 win, the big blow coming on a McEwen 2RBI single.

Carroll picked up her second win in as many games as a relief pitcher, hurling 4.2 innings of work.

The Toros, now 10-8, 6-2 CCAA, host Concordia (CA) for a non-conference twinbill next Friday, with first pitch set for 1:00 pm on Toro Diamond.
