Toros Squash Host Otters in 69-48 Blowout Road Victory

Seaside, CA -- Capturing an easy victory in a 69-48 blowout win over the Otters of Cal State Monterey Bay on the road improves the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team to a record of 14-8 (9-6 CCAA). Playing in her first game in over a month was Ennisha Kyles, who made a comeback with 8 points and 9 rebounds to lead on the night from the glass.

With the game tied at seven apiece five minutes into the first half, the Toros started their offensive push that would last the rest of the game. Off Kyles' shooting from the charity line and Neka Mixon's drives from the paint, CSUDH was able to grow its lead to a healthy 26-12 following a seven-point push, their biggest of the first half.

Following another Mixon jumper and a Whitney Gantt trey, CSUDH enjoyed a 22-point lead at 38-16 going into the break.

Giving away a handful of field goals to the Otters from the hands of Danelle Baker, CSUDH refused to give away the entire lead and quickly built up to a 31-point margin at 55-24 off a MacKenzie Mathias three.

Aujanee Baldwin would netted the final points on the board of the night for the Toros with nearly five minutes remaining off a pair of buckets from the charity line.

CSUMB attempted a minor rally in the final minutes of play to knock down the deficit to 21 points, but that was as close as the Otters got in a Toros 69-48 win.

Leading on the night from the floor was Brittney Blankenship with 16 points and eight rebounds with backup from Mixon who tallied an additional 16 points. Making her first appearance since the UC San Diego road game was Kyles who added in eight points and nine boards for a near double-double.

Now with a record of 14-8 (9-6 CCAA) the Toros will continue road action as they travel to San Francisco State to face off against the Gators tomorrow. Tip-off is set at 5:30 pm.
