Murphy Doubles Pleasure in 2-0 Win at Cal Poly Pomona


POMONA -- Nineteen days after seeing a 3-0 lead evaporate in visiting Cal Poly Pomona's 4-3 double overtime win in Carson, Cal State Dominguez Hills super sophomore #Jessica Murphy# tallied both goals as the Toros avenged that defeat with a 2-0 win tonight over the Broncos, her third multi-goal game of the season.

The contest barely started before Murphy put the Toros up a goal in the 7th minute, taking a feed from #Lauren Ruvalcaba# and beating CPP keeper Ashley Salerno 1v1 with a shot inside the left post.

That's where the score remained until just over 10 minutes left in regulation when #Lexi Ford# took her turn providing an assist to Murphy, who nearly duplicated her first half effort by again beating Salerno inside the left post for an insurance goal.

CSUDH's defense, along with keeper #Alyssa Congdon#, who finished with 8 saves on the night, kept the Bronco offense at bay as the Toros out-shot the hosts 25-14, including a whopping 18-4 edge in the first half.  CPP fell to 6-5, 2-5 CCAA.

The Toros, who improved to 7-5, 6-3 CCAA, look to make it two in a row as they travel to Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday.
