Underclassmen Send Toro Seniors Out in Style With 2-0 Win Over CS East Bay

CARSON -- Honoring three seniors in a pre-game ceremony on "Senior Day," it was CSUDH's underclass that sent the trio out with a 2-0 shutout against visiting Cal State East Bay in the final double-header of the regular season.

As was the case with the men's game in the morning, the Toros jumped out quick with an 11-4 shot advantage in the first half.  CSUDH looked to get on the board in the 21st minute after a #Britney Vance# header was sent towards the net, but an aggressive Toro player inadvertently deflected the shot, keeping the game scoreless entering the half.

That's where the score remained until the 59th minute when #Makenzie Pedrotti# found the ball at her feet after a scrum 18 yards from the Pioneer net, where she proceeded to loft her shot over Nina Cefalo's outstretched arms for a 1-0 lead.

Vance doubled the score on CSUEB in the 69th minute after collected her own loose ball just 6 yards from paydirt, drilling her blast past a diving Cefalo for an insurance goal.

CSUDH wound up with a 22-4 shot advantage and a 12-2 edge in corners, as the Pioneers, who fell to 3-10-3, 2-8-2 CCAA, went without a shot attempt after the break thanks to the stingy Toro defense.

Prior to the contest, the Toros honored three seniors playing in their final regular season home doubleheader in #Natalie Moreno#, #Caslyn Wells and Amanda Murray#.

CSUDH, now 10-7, 9-5 CCAA, battles the reigning NCAA Champion Seattle Pacific Falcons on Saturday, October 24, before the final two CCAA regular season games of the year on the road.
