BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - In a match mostly devoid of offensive intensity, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team found just enough to outlast short-handed Cal State Bakersfield 1-0 on the CSUB Main Soccer Field Sunday afternoon.

Bakersfield's best player, sophomore forward Moriah Neville picked up a retalitory red card in the 54th minute, forcing the Roadrunners to play with 10 for the balance of the match. It was the worst possible timing for her first collegiate card, as it helped provide the spark the Toros would need to net the match-winner.

Reserve forward Kristen Boskovich did the honors for Dominguez Hills. She took a pass from Rachele McDonald in the upper left corner of the penalty area, made a move around a Bakersfield defender, then beat goalkeeper Ashley Witten inside the near post from 15 yards for her second goal of the season.

Down a player, the Roadrunners tried to push forward for an equalizer, but they never seriously threated over the final half hour of play.

Neither team generated much offense Sunday. Dominguez Hills out-shot Bakersfield 20-12, but managed just four shots on frame in addition to the goal. The Roadrunners also put four shots on target, but Dominguez Hills goalkeeper Ashley De Alejandro made four saves to earn the shutout.

Dominguez Hills improves to 5-6-0 and 4-3-0 with the win, while Bakersfield drops to 4-4-3 overall and 1-4-2 in the CCAA with the loss.

The Toros entertain new-CCAA member Humboldt State on Friday, September 29, for a 4:30 p.m. first kick in Toro Stadium.
