Box Score

SEATTLE, Wash. – Jasmine Wilson scored on a header with less than 13 minutes remaining in the second half to give the Seattle women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over #19 Cal State Dominguez Hills Thursday afternoon at Championship Field.

The Redhawks (3-0-1) drew a foul on the Toros (0-3) on the right wing just outside the box. Ashley Porter sent the ball into the box where several players attempted to put a head on it. The ball found Wilson's head, and she sent it past Dominguez Hills goalie Alison Bosler for the game-winning tally.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead late in the first half as Porter found Cassy Smith in the box. Smith spotted Leah Wymer and passed the ball to her, and Wymer converted on her chance for her second goal of the season.

After holding opponents scoreless for over 369 minutes of game action, the Redhawks allowed their first goal of 2006, as Rachele McDonald and Renee Haynes combined to find Ashley Dahlenburg in front of the net, and Dahlenburg sent a shot past Seattle goalie Kaitlyn Jackson for the tying score.

The Redhawks dominated the action throughout the match, earning 18 total shots, including seven shots on goal, to the Toros' four total shots. Dominguez Hills tried to play a physical match, but was called for 15 fouls, several of them enabling Seattle to set up its offense and eventually leading to the game-winning goal.

Bosler, a late entry into the starting lineup for Dominguez Hills, finished the match with five saves, four of them coming in the second half. Seattle had several other chances just miss the net as most of the action resided in the Dominguez Hills defensive end.

The Toros return home for a Tuesday (Sept. 5) match when Grand Canyon's women come calling. Start is 4:30 p.m.
