TURLOCK, Calif.—Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team 3-1 (30-26, 24-30, 30-24, 30-26) at Warrior Arena in conference volleyball action Saturday afternoon.
The Toros improvedo 6-13 overall and 2-9 in the CCAA, while the Warriors fall to 3-11 and 1-10 in conference play.
Down 2-1 in the match, the Warriors came out in game four with an 11-5 lead, which quickly evaporated. The Toros came thundering back, and the two teams found themselves in a 22-22 deadlock. Cal State Dominguez Hills then pulled off six consecutive points. The Warriors pushed back to drop the deficit to 28-26, but the Toros were just too much and went on to a 30-26 match-deciding win.
The Toros took game one, 30-26, and Warriors knotted up the match 1-1 with a 30-24 victory in game two. The Toros then came out of the break with a 30-24 win in game three.
The Warriors led the Toros in kills, 49-45, but CSUDH's Courtney Spainhour led all players with 18. The Warriors' Kelli Costello posted 17 kills.
CSUDH is back in action Wednesday night with a home match against always tough Cal State Bakersfield. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
