Gerald enters his first year with the Toro volleyball program as a member of the coaching staff. He is committed to helping student-athletes develop their skills, compete at a high level, and grow both on and off the court. Gerald brings enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the game as he begins his coaching career with the Toros.
As the owner and club director of South Bay Volleyball Club in Carson, California, Gerald has built a reputation for developing championship programs, mentoring student-athletes, and creating cultures centered on family, competition, and excellence.
Gerald was born and raised in Carson, California, where he graduated from Carson High School in 2006. As a student-athlete, he earned All-Marine League honors and helped lead Carson High School to the CIF City Championship Finals in 2006. His coaching career began in 2008 at Carson High School, where he spent more than a decade building one of the premier programs in the LA City Section. During his tenure from 2008–2018, Carson captured nine Marine League Championships, two CIF Championships, and finished as a CIF State Runner-Up.
In 2019, Gerald became the head coach at San Pedro High School, leading the program to a CIF Championship in his first season.
From 2019–2022, he served as an assistant coach at Long Beach City College, helping guide the Vikings to two CCCAA State Championship runner-up finishes while working with one of the nation’s top junior college programs.
Gerald then became the head coach at Long Beach Wilson High School, where he compiled 41 victories in just two seasons indoor, while leading the school’s beach volleyball program to a Moore League Championship.
Since 2023, Gerald has served as the Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Long Beach Poly High School. Under his leadership, the Jackrabbits have recorded four consecutive 20-plus win seasons, captured three Moore League Championships, and won the 2024 CIF
Southern Section Championship, restoring Long Beach Poly as one of California’s elite volleyball programs.
Gerald also served as the Head Boys Volleyball Coach at St. John Bosco High School from 2025–2026. In his first season, he led Bosco to its first 20-win season and first CIF playoff appearance in over a decade. In his second season, the Braves advanced to the CIF Championship Final, marking one of the program’s most successful stretches in recent history.
At the club level, Gerald has coached teams to success on the national stage, earning one National Championship, one National Silver Medal, and two National Bronze Medals, along with multiple national qualifier championships and top finishes throughout the country.
Gerald resides in Carson, California with his wife, Alexis and their three children: Keola, Kauhi, and Keahi. Family remains at the center of everything he does, both at home and within his volleyball programs.
