Jered “J” Chapman begins his fourth year on the sidelines as an assistant with the Toro volleyball program after working with various NCAA Division I schools, including the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and the University of Pennsylvania.
Serving as volunteer assistant and manager for North Carolina's women's team from 2001-2006, Chapman worked under head coach Joe Sagula.
During his tenure at UNC, the program earned 2 ACC titles, 3 NCAA appearances, 1 NCAA Sweet 16 appearance, and multiple AVCA All-American/All-Region honors.
At Charlotte, he helped the 49ers to their first 20-win season in 10 seasons. As an Assistant Coach, he directed training for setters and liberos, coordinated and trained offensive systems, and assisted with recruiting for the program.
While working with the 49ers, Chapman also co-directed the USAV High Performance Girls Developmental A2 camps.
As the top Assistant Coach for the University of Pennsylvania, Chapman directed training for setters, liberos, and middle hitters. He headed the offensive and defensive systems, opponent scouting, and also served as the recruiting coordinator for the program.
As a player, Chapman was a 4-year starter at libero and 3-year co-captain for North Carolina's Men's club team, finishing his 2005 season ranked 4th in the nation for DI-AA.
J. has worked with various high-level players including professional/international players and National team players. He has also coached for many top clubs throughout the country that include Triangle (Raleigh, NC), Carolina Jrs (Charlotte, NC), and TCA (Los Angeles, CA), and currently is coaching with club powerhouse Mizuno Long Beach in Long Beach, CA.
Chapman is a North Carolina native and graduated in 2005 from the University of North Carolina with B.A. degrees in Exercise & Sports Science and Political Science.
He moved from Philadelphia to Los Angeles in 2009.
