Jeff Joyner

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Joyner begins his third stint on the Toros sidelines as an assistant coach after first debuting in 2000 and earning an NCAA National Title with the men's squad, and then returning from 2001-04 to assist with the women's teams.

Prior to returning in 2009, Joyner served in a similar capacity at Division I  Cal State Long Beach for three years, where the 49ers set school records for victories, winning 12 games in 2005 and 14 in 2006 en route to the program's first-ever Big West title.

In both of those seasons, the 49ers set school-records for victories, winning 12 games and being ranked for the first time in 2005, before upping the ante to 14 wins and a Big West title, a program first, in 2006. In both seasons, the 49ers were nationally ranked for the first time in school-history.

Joyner began coaching in 1998 at South Torrance High School as an assistant coach for the boys varsity team, helping compile a 78-30-8 record over three seasons.  As the girls varsity coach for South from 2001-03, Joyner led his teams to one Ocean League Championship, one CIF semifinal and one CIF quarterfinal appearance, compiling a 43-22-9 record en route to earning 2003 Ocean League Coach of the Year honors and the 2002 Daily Breeze Coach of the Year Award.

Joyner spent one season playing for the Toros, as a defender in 1999, after transferring from Harbor Junior College where he was a two-time All-South Coast Selection.  Joyner prepped at South, where he was named All-CIF as a senior, and twice to the All-Ocean League team.

Coach Joyner graduated from CSUDH in 2001 with a degree in Quantitative Economics.  He is single and resides in Torrance.
