Nautica Morrow is entering her third year of coaching college basketball and will be stepping into the role of interim head coach at California State University, Dominguez Hills, under the guidance of John Bonner. A native of Los Angeles, California, she graduated from CSUDH in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. During the 2017-2019 seasons, she was a standout member of the Toros women’s basketball team.
Last year, Nautica was part of an exceptional team that finished with an impressive 36-2 record. The team achieved remarkable success as regular season champions, CCAA champions, and NCAA West Regional champions. They competed fiercely in the Elite 8, advanced to the Final 4, and made it all the way to the NCAA Championship, where they ultimately fell short. This incredible journey showcased not only the team's talent but also Nautica's commitment to excellence both on and off the court.
In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Nautica completed her Master of Arts Degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution & Peacebuilding, further enhancing her skills in leadership and teamwork.
Before returning to her Alma mater, Nautica gained valuable coaching experience with Cal Sparks AAU, where she assisted in training young athletes. She also operated her own business focusing on player development for youth athletes aged 7 to 14 at Stevenson Park.
Throughout her basketball career, Nautica demonstrated exceptional leadership, serving as team captain for two seasons. She earned several prestigious accolades, including being named to the All-CCAA First Team twice (2017-2019) and receiving the CSUDH Female Athlete of the Year award on two occasions (2017-2018, 2018-2019). Nautica led her team in points, assists, and steals during both of her award-winning seasons, while also ranking as the CCAA leader in steals and finishing second in scoring. A notable highlight of her career was setting a school record with 10 steals in a single game against San Francisco State.
Nautica’s passion for basketball and her dedication to developing the next generation of athletes make her a valuable asset to the CSUDH coaching staff as she embarks on this new chapter as interim head coach.
