Love Rainey

Love Rainey joins the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball program as an assistant coach in her first year for the 2018-19 season. Rainey comes to CSUDH after serving one season as the associate head coach at the University of La Verne. Prior to that, she held the same position at the University of Antelope Valley, where she helped the Pioneers to the 2016-17 Cal-Pac Conference title in the team's inaugural season. The Pioneers finished the season with a 19-7 overall record and 11-3 in the Cal-Pac play with one All-American, and two Cal-Pac First Team, one Second Team, one Honorable Mention player and the Defensive Player of the Year.
 
She was also previously an associate head coach at Bethesda of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and an assistant coach at Los Angeles Southwest Community College and View Park Preparatory High School.
 
As an athlete, Rainey played two years at LA Trade Tech, where she led the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) in scoring, before transferring to St. John's in New York, where she received her bachelor's degree. She also has a master's in business administration from Bethesda and her Wellness Certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She also possesses numerous certifications in various health and wellness modalities including, a certified Yoga instructor.
 
Rainey is no stranger to Carson. She attended Anna Lee Ave Elementary and Curtis Middle schools in the neighborhood, and her mother, Anita Roberts, not only graduated with her bachelor's and master's degrees from CSUDH, but also worked as the campus' health educator for 14 years.
