Jaleesa Ross

Longtime assistant coach Jaleesa Ross returns for her ninth year helping lead the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball program in 2023-24.

During her time on the Toro bench, Ross has coached one All-American, one all-region, 16 All-CCAA selections and one Newcomer of the Year. In addition to being part of the coaching staff for the 2015-16 CCAA championship team, the Toros have also appeared in one NCAA Regional and four CCAA Tournament appearances. This past 2022-23 season the Toros won CCAA Conference Champions, NCAA West Region Champions, and made an appearance at the NCAA Div. II Elite 8. 

In her third season with the Toros in 2017-18, Ross helped the Toros back into the CCAA Tournament with 13 wins overall, 11 in conference play. She also coached Nautica Morrow and Taylor Farris to the All-CCAA first and second team, respectively. In her second season Ross coached Imari Brown and Simone Thompson to All-CCAA selections. 

In her first season with the Toros in 2015-16, Ross helped then-head coach Molly Goodenbour pilot the team to a a three-team share of the CCAA regular-season crown and 22 wins, culminating in a third-straight CCAA Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth. 

Ross came to Carson after reviving the Central High School varsity women's basketball program for three years, a stint that followed four years of leading AAU's Cal Sparks Xtreme, a program she founded and helped lead many players to collegiate scholarships.

Prior to her coaching career, Ross played professionally in Iceland, where she competed for two months before suffering a career-ending knee injury.

At the collegiate level, Ross holds the all-time scoring record at Fresno State with 2,002 points. Her legacy includes leaving Fresno State as the third all-time three-point shooter in the nation, a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Honorable Mention nod, a WBCA All-Region First Team honor, three All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) First Team honors, back-to-back WAC MVP honors and a WAC Newcomer of the Year accolade.
